Meet Michael Sadlon

A friendly and knowledgeable part of our Wine, Beer and Liquor Departments, since August of 2009, Michael knows the ins and outs of all things alcohol and has more than earned the role of Liquor and Beer Director. Michael is passionately against snootiness and works wonders in leading our customers to the libation they most desire. His motto is "If it fits in a glass and you like it, it's the right thing." There's no question that Michael is the right thing for The Hills Market. We're happy to have him.

Details About Michael

Five Favorite Items at The Hills Market:

Kent's creations for the Wine & Cheese Tastings
Hills Pizza (Best. Pizza. Ever.)
Grindstone Neck of Maine Smoked Blue Cheese
Hills Own Hummus
Our latest white/rosé find

His Favorite Thing to Cook at Home
:

My wife is the best cook in the world, so it's kind of silly for me to even try. I tend to clean the house instead.

His Favorite Restaurants:

Akai Hana - Best sushi and atmosphere this side of New York. Min Ga - I'm far from a foodie, but going there is a dining experience.

His Hobbies:

Aside from the ones that are far too nerdy to admit in public, I do a lot of writing and image making.

What He Likes about His Job:

My co-workers are genuinely good people, and one can't say enough about that. It's never a chore to come in for the day, and the people around me really care and do their best at all times. It's a great environment.

How Hills is Different:

In terms of our Beer and Wine Departments, we only carry products that our customers want and things we think they will like. As an independent store, we don't have to carry anything; the new beers and wines that reach our departments' shelves have been tried and liked by at least one of us.

His Many Skills:

I managed a vintage toy store in Greenwich Village, I've been a (terrible) waiter, a Kool-Aid factory worker, a pool table installer and a black & white photograph printer.
